Dave was very prompt in his response when we reached out for some renovation work at our house. We had a list of things like painting, flooring, bathroom renovations, etc. to be taken care of. For the first visit, Dave came with a team of experts to evaluate the asks we had in the house. Dave and his team listened to all our asks and recommended options to fit our budget and what would work out for our overall plan. Dave even had store recommendations for the flooring and other fixtures for the home. The work started on time and his team was very attentive to details. We hired ERNA Properties to finish our basement. As a couple who was experiencing their first ever major home project and with no referrals with which to turn, we were predictably anxious about who we could trust with this work. We researched ERNA and though we may have thought that our project might actually be too small or minor for them, we met with Dave, the owner, on the same day that we made first contact with them, which we thought was unique. We had one company who said they couldn’t meet with us anytime soon because they were too busy and another one that sent more of a sales representative, which was fine. But to actually get an in-person visit from the owner was a very pleasant surprise for us. Let us echo what many other clients have stated, and that is a primary reason we went with ERNA was because of our initial conversations and interactions with Dave. He was always attentive, listened, and extremely patient with our many questions and concerns, and also direct and candid when necessary. Just like so many others as well, we could not be happier with the finished product. In a couple of ways, the work exceeded the expectations we had in our minds of how our finished basement would look and feel. Observing the various stages of the project as it went along, we are extremely confident that the quality of the products used as well as the work done was excellent. Timeline wise, the project was completed well within the expected and promised time frame. Like other clients, we had personal interactions with Diego as a project manager and Kristyn as a designer. Kristyn was fantastic to deal with, as she helped us even from the early stage of creating the layout and blueprints for our space. There were quite a deal of considerations and choices that we had not thought about before we were already well into the project, and she did a great job helping us to try and organize our options and make the best decisions we could. Though we only saw Diego just a couple of times, he always kept the project moving, juggling communications and organization with our town, sub-contractors, and us. One thing we were also very pleased about was that Diego always took the time to listen and address our concerns and problems, even at nights and on weekends. At various points in time, there were miscommunications and misunderstandings, which is perhaps to be expected in any big project. We had to assist the workers at a couple of points in the process so that we could meet inspection times that were scheduled. It was important to us that this project was more of a partnership than just a business transaction. So, we treated everyone as such and all of the people that we dealt directly with treated us in kind; and we are incredibly thankful for that. We hired ERNA Properties for a basement remodel project. We got quotes from a few contractors for the project and decided to award the project to ERNA even though their prices were higher than the other contractors. The reason was that the owner Dave seemed to be a honest, competent, and caring person. We actually needed to stretch our budget to go with ERNA on this project. ERNA did deliver an amazing transformation of the basement. The quality of work is top-notch. All the material they used is also of great quality. All workers were professional, very caring and respectful of our house. The workers always cleaned up after the work. The designer Kristyn had good aesthetic sense and offered great design options to choose from. Her 3D renderings were very helpful to visualize the end result and to make right choices. The project manager Diego did a great job in keeping the project running smoothly. He always kept us updated about the schedules and was very responsive to our calls and messages. He also addressed all our concerns. The only area we were not completely satisfied was their contracting process. Unlike other contractors we obtained quotes from, ERNA did not include a floor plan as part of the contract. As promised, they did deliver a floor plan later on before starting the construction work. However, we noticed that a few items which were requested initially such as repositioning and rebuilding of a wall were missing in the floor plan and such discrepancies were not clear from the contract without the floor plan. This caused some confusion and we eventually needed to pay additional money in order to have them included in the scope of the project. This in our view reduced the value we got from the work to some extent especially because of the fact that we had to stretch our original budget to go with ERNA. Overall, ERNA did a great job with the project and we would consider them again for future projects.Read More

Choosing a General Contractor for a major renovation is tricky business. Before undertaking our full kitchen and laundry renovation my wife and I met with four or five contractors and emailed dozens more. None were nearly as forthright, pleasant, respectful, and thoughtful as Dave and the team at Erna. Dave understood our trepidations and worked with us patiently while we finalized plans and through a change in the initial scope of the project. His pricing was justified and predictable. His Project Coordinators, Diego and Kristyn, were outstanding and facilitated completing a major job in about 3 months while my family of five was living in the house. Erna Properties recently finished a complete renovation of our home. What started life as a 3 bedroom, 2 bath ranch @ 1300 square feet, Dave and Team built us our forever home addition where we added 1400 square feet including a second floor with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and a workout room. We recently (finally) started construction with ERNA Properties, though Dave and I started working together on my home renovation well over a year ago now. Dave and his team transformed our home by updating specific items throughout. We didn’t have the time to tackle full blown renovations of our kitchen, bathroom and other living spaces. Instead, with Dave and his team, especially the designer Mary and Kristen, specific items were identified in each of these spaces to renovate. The end result was a home that felt more modern with a better flow and without the expense and time of doing full blown renovations. For example, our kitchen had relatively nice cabinets but outdated countertops, we worked with the design team to select new countertops, backsplash and fixtures to modernize and lighten the space. The most complicated project involve demolishing century old plaster walls to create a new hallway and entrance to our backyard while tying the look from floor to ceiling to the rest of the house. And they did this in record time, without cutting corners. We signed our contract to work with Dave 6 weeks before having a baby, and all was completed before baby arrived . A special shout out to the dedicated crew ( Pete and Frank ) who really delivered top notch service. They took such care to really maintain our home and preserve those areas that were not being renovated. They were always on time, always working and always left our home clean after the each work day. The entire team was personable and a breeze to communicate with. I hired Dave and his team after being completely screwed by my previous contractor. My wife and I were very skeptical of every contractor we interviewed after losing faith in builders. We went through some very disorganized companies and had almost given up hope. That’s until we met Dave. We knew from the second we met him that we trusted him. If you are looking for a professional builder that delivers quality work, and just “gets you”, look no further than Erna Properties. The first project that we did with them involved renovating a two family house that was set up as a mother daughter, and turning it into a completely separate two-family - suitable as separate rentals. Dave attended every meeting. He was punctual and professional. He understood our ideas, and clarified anything he wasn’t sure of. This was an involved project. Aside from all the interior/exterior cosmetic items, it called for finishing a bare basement, and rehabilitating the entire interior of both floors - including the installation of new kitchens, HVAC, laundry rooms, bathrooms, etc. Our tenants still get compliments from their guests at how nice their apartments are. The second project was after Tropical Storm Ida. Our basement flooded, and basically had to be rebuilt. When everyone was backed up for weeks on end, Dave and Erna came to the rescue. I'm a fan of The A-Team and when I met DAVE SEIDENBERG and his team it was like the CONSTRUCTION CALVARY had arrived! I mean it! The whole team...electricians, plumbers, architect, engineers all came together for a meeting at my 1957 ranch house. I'd decided to make the family home I inherited my forever home. However, it needs some serious upgrading. My Dad was a carpenter by trade and renovated the whole house as we grew up. But, as time passes things have to be upgraded. I also need to make some ADA changes to the house because of past injuries. I shopped around for 2 years for an architect to just design a home with my needs in mind. I found a great architect and then I started looking for builders. I was in no rush, but when I was ready to go I wanted to feel confident in my choice. I'd spoken to about 4 or 5 contractors, builders and companies. Then while on HOUZZ looking for ideas I saw the work that ERNA PROPERTIES had done. The one that stood out to me was a house on a hill with a steep driveway. THAT WAS IT! My 1957 ranch is on top of a hill and has a full basement. As the final draft was being done DAVE SEIDENBERG and his team were absolutely ON POINT collaborating and communicating with my architect. Kystyn, the designer, is so professional and easy to work with. She gets my Star Trek/Downton Abbey style. As of September 2021 I wish I could say my project is done and I'm moving in. Covid got in the way. Lumber prices soared. And, then the plans were denied by the town!!!! Did DAVE lose interest and say "See Ya"? NO! From suggesting next steps to helping refer qualified professionals to deal with the legalities of seeking a variance, DAVE has been there every step of the way. I still can't believe how supportive and helpful he and his team have been through all of this. EXAMPLE: My central AC unit went down in June. Freon is no longer available. I needed a whole new system. But, it didn't make sense if I was going to remodel the house. I figured I could just continue packing and make it through until construction began. The denial delayed everything and it was HOT! Dave actually called on one of those hot days and said order a window unit and his guy, Fabio, would be there the next day to install it. Fabio was there at exactly 9 am. He took measurements, picked up the window units (I ordered 2) and installed them in no time. I hired Erna Properties to build an addition to my second floor over the garage which included a new bedroom, bathroom and closet. I can't say enough about how wonderful this company is. It started with Dave Seidenberg, the owner. I met with him and hired him on the spot. I had not met with any other contractors. For a project of this magnitude, I probably should have, but I went with my gut instinct. I was not wrong. It was the best decision I made. You just have to meet with him to know. He asked the right questions. He made made me think about aspects of the job I hadn't thought about. He met with me multiple times before even asking me to sign a contact or give a deposit. After our first contractor decided not to follow through, we decided to start searching for another contractor. We met with 7 contractors that we vetted both through Houzz and Real Estate Advisor judging on best and most recent reviews. From our first meeting, Dave has been nothing short of amazing to work with. He has years of knowledge, great personality to work with and has the right mix of professionalism and empathy that makes him very likable. We are in the middle of our project right now but I wanted to leave a review because of how confident we already feel with him. Since the beginning he has set reasonable objectives, has found ways for us to save money without cheaping out on product and materials, has been constantly keeping us updated through text and phone calls during the week and on weekends and has been extremely patient dealing with us as this is our first home project and we don't exactly know what we are doing :). He comes multiple times a day and week to come check on the progress of the project. Sometimes things haven't been up to his standard and so he has completely restarted that phase of the project to ensure perfection to his standards which are high. We had hired another contractor who took our money and ran. Erna properties fixed our 2000sq ft patio and outdoor kitchen from ruins to beauty. I have been working with Dave the owner since the summer of 2016. He is extremely hands on, attentive to detail and professional.
